Crone is proud to announce the completion of a contemporary commercial building at 27-29 Robinson Street. With a GFA of 12,600m², the project created five levels of new commercial space for a prominent government statutory agency.

Crone sought to create an advanced, high-quality modern office, with refuges of green quiet spaces within an urban environment. Crone took advantage of the sloping site to create a terraced form that both reduces the mass of the building, increases sunlight to the street level and creates garden decks where workers can take breaks, hold meetings, and organise group social functions. Large trees in raised planter boxes create outside rooms on the terraces, while high balustrades provide protection from prevailing winds. Paved surfaces provide interest and definition between the more landscaped areas.

At ground level, small scale retail outlets activate the footpath and contribute to the ‘Revitalising Central Dandenong’ Master-plan’s place-making strategies.

The north side of the building presents a formal facade with large horizontal shading elements dividing the elevation with a series of distinct urban markers. A fine ceramic frit across the high performance, double glazed curtain wall creates a delicate diaphanous facade, whose carefully considered design bolsters the ESD credentials and helps the building achieve 5-Star Green Star, and 4.5 Star NABERS ratings.
