As the last undeveloped site of East Circular Quay, this project for 104 luxury apartments, high-end retail, a restaurant and bar is an important addition to the public domain and the architecture of Sydney’s Circular Quay.
As lead architect, working with Tzannes and Make in a progressive collaboration, we have driven the design to become on of Sydney’s highest-end offerings, with beautiful, high-quality design both inside and out.
The building’s dual aspects, to both waterfront and parkland, makes this development unique. It’s a challenging site, and needs to respond to the adjacent Cahill Expressway and the natural topography, while ensuring the building will be and feel public at its ground plane. At street level, the street edge is reinforced by the retail colonnade, while above the Macquarie street ground plane, the formal architecture is broken and a more fluid architectural response to the water and road ways is established. This fluid architecture creates a softening around the commencement of Bennelong Point.
We recently completed design development and are moving on to the tender documentation phase, the project going to market in a month.
