The design navigates the site’s complexities: amalgamating three sites at various stages of planning approval; the impact of light rail & pedestrianisation of George St; proposals to neighbouring sites; & strict controls requiring negotiation with Council & multiple stakeholders. The design prioritises the public realm & everyday experience. The public domain & through-site link will incorporate high-quality public art as a place-making instrument to revitalise the area. By creating a pedestrian gateway between the APDG precinct & Sydney’s business district, Wanda Sydney seeks to unlock a new cultural & creative precinct & transform the Circular Quay promenade into a lively public space.
