By analysing the setbacks and height-limits, we found the structure required for the maximum envelope was too large for the building’s footprint so we reduced the height of the overall tower to help minimize the structure. A conscious decision was made to respect the integrity of the proposal and design a balanced tower, oriented towards the spectacular views on offer. Carving the floor-plate helps to articulate the facade providing interest and relief to the tall tower and allowing a winter balcony to shade the floors below. The unified aesthetic language of the design completes a refined and sophisticated statement to the Brisbane skyline.
