Achieving 14-storeys was tricky within an envelope hemmed in by flight-path height restrictions and a need to stay above the flood plain. By using 2-storey maisonettes at penthouse and ground levels, Crone reduced the need for a lift overrun and created a premium apartment with the space and privacy of a house.
At ground level, strong edges, textured walls and vertical window elements extended the language of terrace houses around the podium. Above, the lighter, glassy towers take advantage of long views, light and aspect. Brushed gold verticals create a rhythm of highlights in the glass facade.
Spectrum sits 100 metres from Mascot train station and within easy reach of universities, colleges and schools while only 5km from Sydney CBD.
Crone collaborated with Meriton on the design and planning approvals process. Hear from Andrew Woodward, Senior Associate at Crone, about the concept design in this Spectrum video.
